Nate Kaylor is an architect and technology specialist focused on industrialized construction, computational design, digital fabrication, and robotics. Most recently, he spent five years leading technology and innovation efforts in modular housing at Factory_OS and Harbinger Production, where his work connected digital design directly to manufacturing and helped develop new tools for producing affordable multifamily housing. His projects have included software and robotic workflows for factory production as well as collaborations with Autodesk Research on catalog-based generative design—allowing designers to configure Factory_OS building products while evaluating factors such as cost, carbon, and habitability.
As a Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Offsite Construction, Nate brings firsthand experience in translating computational methods into practical factory systems and repeatable building products. His earlier research at the University of Stuttgart’s Institute for Computational Design and Construction explored architectural and modular robotics, including the Meta-Morph adaptive robotic system, and he contributed to the Institute’s 2018–19 Research Demonstrator. Nate holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kansas and a graduate degree from the University of Stuttgart, and his work continues to explore how DfMA, BIM, automation, and digital fabrication can make housing production more affordable, sustainable, and scalable.
